8/15 Bowes Green Farmhouse
- II
House. Mid-late C18 with C17 remains. Gritstone coursed rubble, stone and
Westmorland slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays with 2-storey, l-bay block to
right. Central glazed door with overlight in plain stone surround.
Flanking and first-floor windows are 4-pane sashes in plain stone surrounds.
Gable coping, end stacks. In the C14 this was a grange belonging to the
Archbishop of York. It was then called Bowhouse and was used for dairying.
