GV II

Cottages and workshops, now derelict. Late C18 - early C19. Coursed
squared gritstone, stone slate roof partly replaced by corrugated asbestos.
2 storeys, 2 cells. Each cell has board door to right on both floors the
upper doors reached by wooden stairs. Far left: 24-pane sash in flush wood
frame, 8-pane casement above. First-floor door, right, flanked by C19
small-paned workshop windows. Sawn-stone lintels to all openings. Brick
stack to left end. Left return: lean-to addition of coursed rubble with
pantile roof. Interior: ground floor is below present yard level. The
building is derelict. In 1851 the premises were occupied by handloom
weavers. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group.
