GV II

Two houses with shops, now two houses and one shop. Late C18,
with later C19 and C20 alteration. Orange and vitreous brick
in English garden-wall bond; pantile roof with brick stacks.
2-storey 5-window front. No.25 has double shop front of plain
pilasters and cornice, with glazed double doors and overlight,
recessed between plate-glass windows over rendered risers. On
first floor, single-pane sash window to left, and similar,
paired, windows to right, with flat arches of gauged brick and
renewed stone keyblocks. No.27 has central entrance
incorporated in C19 shop front of plain pilasters with shaped
imposts and moulded cornice. 5 steps up to C20 replacement
door, beneath overlight. Shop window to left partly bricked up
and altered to paired 12-pane top-hung windows with continuous
painted stone sill; similar single window to right, and 2 on
first floor; first floor centre window blocked. All windows
have flat arches of gauged brick with painted keyblocks. Brick
dentil eaves course. Flat-topped dormer with 2x4-pane sliding
sash in attic of No.25, and one roof light to No.27.
