Farmhouse, c. 1700. Brick on stone plinth, roof of slate (front) and stone
slates (rear) with a chimney stack on the ridge and another at the left
gable. Three-bay baffle-entry plan. Two storeys; walling of Flemish bond with
a band of 3 courses; 2-storey gabled porch at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays,
protecting a board door with 2 bolection-moulded panels, a window at
1st floor; otherwise modern top hung casements in square openings with
gauged brick heads and concrete sills. Left gable has 2 attic windows,
right gable has a C19 belfry opening to the attic, and rear wall various
windows, some with segmental heads. Former single storey dairy at right
end now garage. Interior: good contemporary staircase with turned
balusters and moulded handrail rising full height in 2nd bay; contemporary
doors with bolection moulded panels. House owned and occupied by descendants
of Robert Hubberstey, yeoman, since early C18. (R. Eaton History of Samlesbury)
