(North Side)

19/89 No. 38

II

Cottage. Late C17. Timber framed, plaster rendered on plinth. Reed thatch
now covered with long straw, one end half-hipped. Large original brick stack
to one end and a later corner stack to parlour. Originally a two bay cottage

lobby entry. One bay was removed and replaced by a C19 brewhouse which has
in turn been removed. The parlour was extended by one bay. One storey and
attic. One dormer to Ivy Lane and two windows, with the doorway to the lobby
entry. The rear elevation also has two windows, one now blocked and at
ground floor an original architrave to a three-light casement. Inside there
is an inglenook hearth. The framing is not exposed. The late C17 corner
fireplace in the parlour has been removed and replaced by one of C20 type in
the same location. The roof was not seen.
