House. c1840. Render and rubble, brick end stacks and slate
hipped roof. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 3
storeys; 3-window range, 2-storey; 1-window stable. A
symmetrical front has a central rectangular overlight possibly
from a blocked doorway, with interlacing bars; a doorway in
the attached wall to the left, leading to a side entrance, has
jambs to a canopy with a panel above inscribed Elm Cottage,
and a 6-panel door with a small metal grille. 8/8-pane sashes,
6/6-panes in the narrow central windows, the left-hand
second-floor window is blind. The stable to the left has a
segmental-arched carriage door with a similarly-arched 12-pane
window above. INTERIOR not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES:
attached wrought-iron railings protect the outer ground-floor
windows.
