House. c1840. Stucco, lateral stacks and a slate hipped roof.
Double-depth plan. Italianate style. 3 storeys and basement;
3-window range.
The principal front faces the garden to the rear, symmetrical
with a recessed centre; a banded ground floor to a plat band,
recessed corners and upper windows set in recessed panels, and
overhanging eaves. A tripartite doorway with carved capitals
and a C20 door, and outer French windows; first floor has a
central wrought-iron verandah with French windows, flanking
first-floor windows with architraves, console cornices and
sill blocks to 8/8-pane sashes with margin panes, and
second-floor windows with architraves to 4/8-pane sashes. The
road entrance is set in a splayed rubble wall, with a keyed
Venetian doorway and 6-panel door. INTERIOR: stone-flagged
lobby to a central stair hall with a dogleg winder stair with
stick balusters and ramped rail; a similar winder stair with
wreathed rail down to the garden lobby, divided by a panelled
arch with guilloche moulding; panelled reveals and 6-panel
doors.
