House. Dated 1709 by owner. Stucco with limestone and Pennant
dressings, rendered lateral and party wall stacks and a
pantile hipped roof. L-shaped double-depth plan. Early
Georgian style.
3 storeys and cellar; 5-window range. Built to 2 sides of a
corner with 2:3 windows, the doorway to the right of the
re-entrant; rusticated left-hand pilaster strip, Pennant
rubble strings to each floor and a moulded parapet coping. The
entrance has a 2-pane overlight and 6-panel door. Brick flat
arches with limestone keys to 6/6-pane sashes in exposed
frames. 1-window range in the left return. The rear has a
full-height projecting extension overlapping the party wall
with No.304 (qv), rubble strings, and alternate 6/6 and
12/12-pane sashes. Rear side elevation has stepped first- and
second-floor 6/6-pane stair lights. Extensive vaulted brick
cellars, reported to reach the river. Former coach house
attached to rear (not included).
INTERIOR: a very complete early C18 interior with much
original panelling. Entrance hall with an open-well stair with
column-on-vase balusters, 3 per tread, ramped, moulded rail
and curtail; raised and fielded ground-floor panelling has
cupboards flanking the fireplace with curved shelving and
HL-hinges, cornice and dado and window seats, and shutters;
panelling on the upper floors, and fireplace cupboards with
moulded tops; plain limestone fire surrounds, good cast-iron
hob grates in ground- and first-floor left-hand rooms; rear
left-hand first-floor window has crown glass panes with C18
inscriptions.
