House, now attached pair. Early C19, extended mid C19. Render
with limestone dressings, gable stacks and a pantile
double-pile roof. Double-depth plan. Late Georgian style. 2
storeys and basement; 4-window range. A symmetrical 3-window
front has pilasters to a moulded coping broken out to the
pilasters, with a left-hand extension set back. Tuscan porch
has an entablature with outer stars and central panel, a
bracketed cornice, with wrought-iron pointed-arched railings
above. Semicircular-arched doorway has a raised surround with
imposts, batswing fanlight and 6-panel door with flush lower
panels. 8/8-pane sashes. The left-hand parapeted block has a
doorway with moulded consoles to a cornice and 2-panel door,
with a semicircular-arched sash above. INTERIOR: No.22,
central hall with a stair flight with stick balusters, column
newels and ramped rail, reeded architraves with corner
roundels, 6-panel doors and panelled shutters. SUBSIDIARY
FEATURES: attached squared coursed limestone rubble walls
round front garden, ramped up to rhomboid ashlar gate piers,
and cast-iron gate posts and gates; attached wrought-iron
front basement area railings.
