Terrace of 15 houses. c1825. Stucco with limestone dressings,
party wall stacks and slate mansard roofs. Double-depth plan.
Late Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys, attic and basement;
1-window range.
A stepped terrace articulated by pilaster strips to a cornice
and parapet, ramped down from Nos 1-10. Right-hand
semicircular-arched doorways have raised surrounds with split
keys and imposts, fanlights, No.7 with a lantern, No.4 with a
teardrop fanlight, reeded transoms and 6-panel doors with
corners cut out of upper panels. 6/6-pane sashes, triple
sashes to the first floor with 3/6/6 to Nos 3-10, and French
windows to Nos 1 & 2 with margin panes.
First-floor balconies with wrought-iron pointed-arched
railings with quatrefoils, missing from No.10, tented except
Nos 5, 11 & 15; tented wrought-iron porches to Nos 1 & 4. Rear
elevations have 4/6-pane sashes to Nos 1 & 2, Nos 3 & 4 have
semicircular-arched stair lights, in flush frames. Various
dormers.
INTERIOR: entrance halls with semicircular arches, rear dogleg
stairs with stick balusters, column newels and ramped rails,
panelled shutters and 6-panel doors.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: raised front basement areas have steps up
and wrought-iron railings; Nos 11-15 have a raised flagged
pavement with attached spear-headed wrought-iron railings.
Nos 1 & 2 slightly earlier.
