Town house. Mid to later C19, altered. Red brick in Flemish
bond, with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth
double-fronted plan. Two storeys over cellars, a 4-window
facade with 1st floor string course, plain frieze and moulded
gutter cornice. The ground floor has a round-headed doorway
offset left, with a large stone architrave including moulded
surround, hollow spandrels and prominent cornice with dentils;
one window to the left and 2 to the right, all 4-pane sashes
with moulded architraves and sill-blocks; and beneath each of
these the head of a cellar window with stone lintel and
protective grating (that to the right altered). The 1st floor
has 4 sashes without glazing bars, all with segmental-headed
shouldered architraves. INTERIOR and rear not inspected.
History: formerly used as warehouse.
Forms group with Nos 1 and 2 to left (q.v.) and Nos 5 to 7 to
right (q.v.): there is no No.4.
