HISTORICAL NOTE: Samuel Roberts Snr. was a silver plate
manufacturer and incidentally an antiquarian, and an
enthusiast for Mary Queen of Scots. This may well account for
the building's name and style. His son, Samuel Jnr., occupied
the house 1839-1887.
