Warehouse, now offices. 1883. By RC Sutton of Nottingham for
Mills & Gibbs. Altered early C20. Red brick with painted
ashlar dressings. Roof not visible. 2 coped, dentillated side
wall stacks. Italianate style.
Chamfered plinth, quoins, first floor cornice, eaves cornice,
blocking course. Windows are mainly original segment-arched
plain sashes with linked hood moulds. 5 storeys plus basement
and attics; 9 x 5 windows. Corner site with rounded rebated
corner.
Corner entrance bay has a moulded ashlar doorcase with
segmental pediment on brackets, and curved 4-panel double
doors with overlight. Above, a window on each floor. Attic has
2 dentillated coped pedestals and clerestory windows.
Stoney street front has 8 windows, and to right, a pedimented
doorcase and 4-panel door. Above, 9 windows on each floor.
Basement has 8 segment-arched openings, some glazed.
Left return, to Plumptre Street, has 5 windows on each floor.
Attic has a wavy-topped dormer, early C20, with round window.
Basement has 2 openings. Rear elevation mainly white glazed
brick.
INTERIOR has a stone stair with cast-iron balustrade, with
winders above ground floor.
