GV II

House. Mid/late C18, refronted c1830. Render limestone rubble
with limestone dressings, brick rear stacks and stone slate
roof. Single-depth C18 front range with rear early C19 W wing
and mid C19 E wing connected by late C20 light well.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. A symmetrical
front with parapet has a pedimented doorcase with Tuscan
pilasters and entablature to a recessed C19 half-glazed
doorway and overlight, and left-hand service door. 6/6-pane
sashes, and a large horned 3/3-pane sash dormer.
Wings have N hips and S gables, that to the W with a W
parapet.
INTERIOR: details include a mid C19 tiled hall with stair
flight with stick balusters, rear W wing has a good early C19
marble fire surround, panelled doors and shutters.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached spear-headed front area
railings.
HISTORICAL NOTE: formerly with a wide-arched entrance to the
front.
