3/143 Crow Trees Farmhouse
II
House. Mid C17. Thin coursed rubble, dressed quoins, stone slate
roof. 2-storey front with single-storey outshut to rear. 2-cell plan
with projecting 2-storey porch, rear dairy set in outshut. Cavetto-
moulded string course over ground floor windows. All windows are
double-chamfered mullioned, those to 1st floor having almost square
reveals. 2-light fire-window, 4-light housebody window. Porch breaks
forward and has quoined angles, coped gables with kneelers and basket-
arched doorway with composite jambs and chamfered surround; 2-light
window over to 1st floor. Parlour has former 4-light window lacking
2 mullions. 1st floor has 3 windows. One of 2 lights (blocked)
to left, and a 3-light window to either side of porch. Coped gable with
kneelers and stack to left; one other stack to ridge. Rear has 3
single-chamfered lights (blocked). Side walls of outshut have 2-light
double-chamfered mullioned windows.
Interior: Inner doorway of porch has straight lintel and broad chamfered
surround. Housebody has stop-chamfered scarf-jointed spine beams,
evidence of former bressumer. Parlour has chamfered spine beams and
fireplace with large tie-stone jambs with broad chamfered surround.
King-post truss (over housebody) has single angle struts and stop-
chamfered principals.
A once fine house now unoccupied and dilapidated.
