House. C17 with early C19 Gothick alterations and additions. Plastered
timber-frame, sandstone, stone slate roofs, large brick stack to left of
centre and 2 stone stacks to rear. Rough L-plan formed of 3 parallel C17
ranges aligned north/south with large Gothick wing attached to east also
parallel. Two storeys and attic, 4 windows. Gables to north front have
fretted bargeboards, porch to front right has similar decoration. Left
part has pilasters, cornice, parapet sashes in pointed heads with pointed
intersecting glazing bar pattern. To left French casement of 16 panes, one
6-light mullioned and transomed wooden window to the left of the 3 gable
ends, one 5-light similar window in each of the 2 right hand gable ends.
First floor: intersecting glazing bar sash to left; 5-light mullioned and
transomed window to each gable. In the gable attics: 4-light mullioned
and transomed window to left and right, 3-light to centre. Porch, though
said to be C17, has been plastered and..has early C19 (?) pointed arches.
East front has corner pilasters and centre advanced between 2 more pilasters,
3 windows, central entrance. Attached at rear is early C19 service wing
oriented east/west with diamond shafted stone chimney at west end.
