Terraced town house. c1700-04, as part of the original Queen Square development
forming the south east corner house of the former close. Brown brick with red
brick window dressings, slate roof. L plan. 3 storeys, basement and dormered
steeply hipped roof. 4 windows with one over door, one in splayed re-entrant
angle and two in west flank, north end 2 blind windows wide plus a half blind
window. c1800 doorway to right hand with panelled door and radial patterned
fanlight in stucco semicircular arched surround, approached by steps. Flush
framed glazing bar sashes under flat gauged red brick arches with carved mask
keystones to ground and 1st floors. Stone plat bands over ground and 1st floors
and original wood modillion eaves cornice. Wrought iron area railings with
flambé torch finials and lampstandards. The north return has statue of Queen
Anne c.f. separate item. Good interior with most of panelling, cornices,
chimneypieces and cut and carved string staircase with twisted balusters.
Originally wall across to No 26 separated Queen Square from Park Street to the
east. Part of an exceptional group of Queen Anne houses.
