Group of artisans' cottages, now craft workshops. c.1870.
Brick with slate roofs. Ashlar dressings. Half-round
dentillated brick eaves. 2 ridge stacks. 2 storeys, 5 bays.
Windows are margin light sashes with splayed lintels. Doors have
overlights. Street front has central keystoned entry flanked by
single doors. Beyond, 2 sashes and beyond again, single doors.
Above, central round headed sash flanked by 2 sashes. Rear
elevation has openings with segmental heads. Central entry
flanked by single small casements. Beyond, single doors, and
beyond again, 2 sashes. At each end, lean-to wash house, each
with door and casement in return angle. Ends have each 2 small
casements. Above, small central casement flanked by 2 sashes.
These buildings form part of the setting of the D. H. Lawrence
Birthplace Museum.
