Retaining walls of cutting on Leeds to Thirsk Railway. 1845-49: Engineer, Thomas Grainger. Rock-faced sandstone. On slightly curved line extending approximately 300 metres southwards from the portal. Walls, and slightly-projecting piers at regular intervals, have a concave batter; squared coping. Included for group value.
