Obelisk at Dog Hole Cottage (Dog
Hole Cottage not included)

Obelisk. Mid C19. Gritstone, on limestone base. Square base
raised on steps with lower stage decorated with band of
reeding at base, above a square slightly recessed panel to
each face containing a carved motif. Projecting moulded band
with squat obelisk above. Each face has triangular frieze
below and Greek Key frieze above, between raised carved patera
over inscribed name, BOB, to front. Projecting top has cable
moulded cornice. The carved figure on top is presumably a
portrait of Bob, the dog commemorated by this monument.
This monument is situated within the front garden of No.2, Dog
Hole Cottage (not included).
