Pair of semi-detached villas, now flats, and attached
railings. c1820-50. Stucco over brick with artificial slate
mansard roof, left end and party-wall stucco stacks and iron
railings and balcony and with timber porches. Double depth
plan with outer side hallways.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic and basement, 6 first-floor
windows with single-storey entrance ranges to sides with
recessed lower storey above. Stucco detailing includes
horizontal rustication to ground floor drawn into voussoirs
over windows; first-floor band, first-floor windows have
tooled architraves; crowning frieze, dentil cornice and
blocking course with copings. Ground floor has tall 4/4
sashes, those to right with blind boxes; 1/1 sashes to first
floor and 2 blind openings (2nd and 5th). Basement has 10/10
sashes. Attic dormers concealed behind parapet. Entrances:
flights of roll-edged steps to 4-panel, part-glazed double
doors. Left return has tooled architraves to windows. Rear has
6/6, 8/8 and tripartite 4/4 between 2/2 sashes.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: ground floor at left (Denham) has
continuous acanthus-scroll balcony. Railings to sides of steps
to left have embellished rods; railings to side of basement to
right, a scrolled panel and similar basement railings to rear.
Porches have lattice-work uprights and tent roofs.
