Villa, now St George's Home. c1831-48. By RW and C Jearrad.
Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof and end stucco stacks
with cornices; glass and iron porch and iron verandah.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows (garden facade)
with entrance at side and with full-height canted range at
rear. Entrance in porch to right return, 4-panel double-doors
and 4-panel part-glazed door within, with overlight and
margin-lights. Stucco detailing includes plinth; first-floor
band; first-floor sill band; tooled architraves; cornice and
low parapet with copings. Garden facade: left window-bay
breaks forward slightly. 1/1 sashes throughout, that to left,
both floors are tripartite; ground-floor windows are taller.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: ground-floor verandah has rod-and-lozenge
motifs.
A similar design to Clare (qv). Part of the former Lansdowne
Estate, a notable example of suburban town planning.
