2 semi-detached villas. Numbered right to left, described left
to right. c1840-50. Architects probably RW and C Jearrad.
Stucco over brick and slate roof with iron balconies, canopy
brackets and porches.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement, 3 first-floor windows.
Symmetrical Italianate design with central narrow entrance bay
to right flanked by projecting bays. Stucco detailing includes
ground- and first-floor plat bands, first-floor sill band, all
continue to returns. First floor has 6/6 sashes, and to
returns. Ground floor has outer tripartite windows with 2-pane
French windows with overlights and 2-pane side-lights. All
windows in plain reveals and with blind boxes. 2/2 and 3/3
basement sashes. Central entrance, flight of steps to
6-fielded-panel door; further entrance to left return at angle
with side range: 4-panel, part-glazed door. Wide eaves. Right
return has French windows to ground floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: window guards to ground floor have
X-motif; tent hoods over have scroll brackets; tented porch to
left return has scroll and lozenge motif. Otherwise renewed
hood has scroll brackets to main range and to sides of steps a
balustrade with bulbous balusters and shaped copings. Right
return has tent hood to French windows and balustrade with
X-motif, with stairs to garden.
Occupies a corner site.
