Two houses, early to mid C18 recasing in chequered brick of C17
timber-framed house. Ridge stack and north end stack to cross-
wing. Two storeys and attic, T-plan. Four-window main range
with rubble stone plinth and raised band, 3-window range to left,
Burnham Cottage, has painted brickwork C19 four-pane sashes each
side and centre blank window over 6-panel door in raised beaded
surround with hood on brackets. Band is interrupted over door.
To right, The Antique Shop has one window range of recessed cyma-
moulded stone mullion windows. Relieving arches over all three
ground floor windows. Cross-wing projects to right with stack in
angle, dentilled brick eaves and rendered south end wall to road
with 2-light flush cyma-moulded windows, one above, two below
flanking glazed door. Windows are re-used from Bulkington Mill,
and replace a C19 shop with sash over. Chequered brick west side
with hipped dormer, dentilled eaves, two 3-light flush cyma-moulded
mullion windows above, one similar to ground floor right, blocked
2-light to ground floor left and centre 6-panel door in raised
moulded surround with hood on brackets. Upper windows are leaded
with centre sash, ground floor windows have brick voussoirs and
raised stone keystones above. North end stack. Line of earlier
roof visible at north end. Single-storey pantiled outbuilding
attached to north.
Interior: The Antique Shop has heavy chamfered beam, timber-framed
party wall and C18 corner fireplace in ground floor west room.
Rear room of cross-wing has chamfered beam and timber-lintel
fireplace. Said to have moulded fireplace on rear wall of first
floor.
