SS 70 SE SANDFORD LOWER NEWBUILDINGS

2/243 Ivy Cottage

GV II


3 cottages, now house. Probably late C18-early C19. Plastered cob on rubble
footings; cob or rubble stacks with C19 and C20 brick tops. Wheat reed thatched
roof. 3 adjoining cottages facing south-east comprising a 2-room plan cottage with
projecting end stack at right (north-east) end and 2 one room plan cottages to left
sharing an axial stack. 2 storeys. Overall balanced 5-window front mostly late
C19 2-light timber casements with 6 panes per light and some C20. 2-window front
with central door to right cottage; 2-window front with right side door with C20
glass sided porch to centre cottage; and one window with left side door to left
cottage. Roof hipped to left, gable-ended to right. Interior has plain chamfered
crossbeams, fireplaces blocked and roof not inspected.
