A48 (EAST SIDE)
Fish House
II
Draft net fish house. Mid to late C19. Flemish bond in large bricks, Welsh slate
roof. Small rectangular building with simple gabled ends set on Embankment of the
Severn on its west side, and immediately beside the A48 road. To road is plain;
to river a central blocked doorway with cambered head, centrally, and to right small
openings at ground floor and eaves. South end has small square stack, and an opening
with cambered head, and north end a loft opening with cambered head, cill
removed. A very modest structure, but of historical interest through association
with the Severn salmon fishing industry and one of the few remaining evidences.
Some poles for net drying have recently (1986) been installed on the adjacent
embankment(not listed).
