House. Circa 1600, with some fenestration altered C20, undergoing renovation
1985. Banded ironstone and pale limestone rubble, C20 pantile roof, coped gables
with ogee half-pendants to kneelers, gable to right with small obelisk finial.
Chimney between left bays has shaft rebuilt in concrete C20; ashlar chimney with
moulded cornice to rear gable of right wing (formerly in centre of right wing).
L-plan. Lower 2-bay wing of one storey and attic to left, projecting gabled
cross wing of 2 storeys and attic to right. Left bay has altered fenestration
with C20 2 and 3-light leaded casements to ground floor. Centre bay has similar
3-light ground floor window but with original moulded stone surround and quadrant
cornice. Above is a gabled dormer complete with original 2-light window with
ovolo-moulded mullions and leaded glazing. 2 small staircase lights in stone
surrounds to right. Similar light between left bays over door with chamfered
depressed head and quadrant cornice. Projecting gable to right also retains
original windows with ovolo mullions, quadrant cornices and leaded glazing,
2-light to ground floor and attic, 3-light to first floor. Entry in left return
with shaped lintel and single light above. Interior: heavy stop-chamfered cross
beams; large chimney between left bays, possibly of 2 builds, right fireplace
with chamfered depressed stone arch, left fireplace with heavy cambered wooden
lintel and inset small stone fireplace removed from cross wing; another stone
fireplace to ground floor of cross wing.
