Booking hall and stair tower to railway station. Mid C19. Rock faced stone to ground floor hammer-dressed above, hipped slate roof. 3-storey tower for passenger access to railway line at high level. 3-bay symmetrical facade to road. Doorway with Tuscan pilasters, entablature and cornice. To either side windows with projecting sills and lintels with consoles. Sill band to 1st floor windows Which are similar but with segmental lintels. Those to 2nd floor have stilted arched lintels. Left hand return wall has 3 bays of similar windows with 2 doorways to centre bay (one blocked).
Interior has central stairwell with stone steps supported by 4 tall cast iron columns. Right hand return wall has passenger waiting room at platform level on 2nd floor. 4 bays each with projecting stilted arched lintels on consoles; windows to either side of central doorways. 4 cast iron columns have decorative fretted brackets which support wooden canopy at eaves level under a separate hipped slate roof. Prominent in the town.
