This side of the old bench end has William Lovet and then what looks like Upsilon iota phi and an inverted tau. The cypher also appears at the foot of the other bench end. This may hide the name of Christ in Greek letters. If so, this would indicate that Lovet was one of the secret Catholics, who were persecuted at the time. More pierced cinquefoils appear.
