Terrace of 5 canalworkers cottages: mid C19 for Trent and Mersey
Canal Co. Flemish bond orange brick, Welsh slate roof and 4 brick
chimneys. Rectangular group of 2-bay cottages. 2-storey, 9-bay
front. Wooden cornice. Each cottage has 12-pane sashes with flat
wedged stone heads and stone sills. Basket-arched head to wooden
doorcase with columns, 4-panelled doors and blocked fanlights.
Between nos. 34 and 36 is a semi-circular headed entrance to passage.
Blank window above. Set back at left end is no. 42, earlier in date
with 16-pane sashes under wedged lintels and a simple doorway.
The Trent and Mersey Canal runs immediately to the rear of the
terrace.
