Terrace of 6 houses. c1790. Stucco with limestone dressings,
party wall stacks and pantile mansard roof. Double-depth plan.
Late Georgian style. Each of 3 storeys, attic and basement;
2-window range. A moulded parapet coping, and coped party
walls. Right-hand doorways, No.1 in the right return, have
semicircular arches, small brackets and pediments, fanlights
and 6-panel doors. Various shop fronts, C19 details to Nos 3 &
6, including console brackets to the facias, and cast-iron
stanchions to plate-glass windows; 6/6-pane upper sashes. No.1
has an early C19 wrought-iron tented porch with batswing
spandrels. INTERIOR: central open-well stair with stick
balusters, column newels, and a ramped rail; swagged cornices,
elliptical arch with moulded archivolt, good ground-floor
timber fireplaces with plaster decoration, panelled shutters
and 6-panel doors. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached wrought-iron
railings and gates to basement areas and right-hand Pennant
raised pavement and steps.
