Old Fire Station

GV II

Fire Station, now shop. 1899 date. Render, with rusticated
quoin to 1st floor, crow-stepped gable with crested finial and
eared architraves with segmental heads to 1st floor;
ground-floor end pilasters with fluted entablature and
full-width moulded cornice over elliptically-arched doorway
with vermiculated dressings; dry slate roof; cast-iron ogee
gutters. Corner-site plan. 2 storeys; 2-window front. Original
transomed casements. Doorway now with double shopfront.
INTERIOR: moulded entablature of front of former gallery
visible to ground floor.
