House. Mid C18 with later alterations. Coursed squared
limestone rubble; hipped stone slate roof. 2 stone lateral
stacks on gablets to rear. Front range of house is Palladian
villa with pedimented centre; C19 extension to rear.
3 storey 5-window range. Five 6/6-pane sashes in plain reveals
to first floor; 5 similar 3/3-pane sashes to second floor.
4 similar sashes with stone cills to ground floor; 6 panel
door with 3 pane overlight in eared architrave with heavy
keystone to centre. Rusticated quoins to ground floor left and
right angles; plat band over ground floor. Cill bands to first
and second floors break forward beneath each window. Modillion
cornice and shallow pediment continue break forward of centre
3-window portion of building. Lead covered blocking course.
INTERIOR considerably altered; mid C18 staircase with later
alterations, 1st floor rear left room has early-mid C19
chimneypiece and cornice. Basement left room has 2 beams with
small chamfers.
Quality of exterior masonry and projection of all ashlar
mouldings indicate that house was originally intended to be
rendered.
Attached wall to right approximately 1.5-2m high is coursed
squared limestone with limestone coping ramped up to form gate
piers with ball finials to centre, pair of C20 timber gates.
The wall and gates piers were listed 23.7.71.
