House. Early/mid C18 with late C18 and C19 alterations and
additions. Stucco and limestone ashlar with limestone rubble
and brick to sides and rear; stone slate hipped roof. Rendered
right-end stack; two stacks on rear wings.
Front has 2 schemes of fenestration within facade of uniform
height under same roof; to left 3-storey 4-window early/mid
C18 arrangement; to right 2-storey 2-window late C18
arrangement. To left four 6/6-pane sashes in moulded eared
stone architraves with keystones; four 3/3-pane sashes in
plain reveals above. Ground floor has 3 windows similar to
first floor; Doric portico with 6-panel door with single-pane
overlight in panelled reveal. To right two 6/6-pane sashes in
plain reveals to first floor; 2 similar windows to ground
floor. To left, shallow plinth; to right, plat band over
ground floor and first floor cill band. Moulded timber
modillion eaves cornice. Weather vane, probably C19, on ridge
of roof at right end.
INTERIOR has early/mid C18 open well staircase, possibly
re-set, with 2 turned balusters per tread; early/mid C18
panelled room with dentil cornice and chimneypiece with broken
pediment to ground floor left; large late C18 rooms with
reeded marble chimneypieces to ground floor right and in rear
wing.
