House. Late C17/early C18 with later alterations. Coursed
squared limestone with brick bay, all limewashed. Stone slate
roof; rebuilt brick right end stack; stone ridge stack on rear
wing.
2 storeys, attic and cellar; 3-window range. First floor has
two 2-light metal mullion-and-transom leaded light windows in
chamfered stone surrounds; 3 pointed 2-light windows with
Y-tracery with octagonal pattern leaded lights in bay to left.
One 2-light metal mullion-and-transom leaded light window in
chamfered stone surround to ground floor right; bay to left
fenestrated as first floor.
6-panel door in moulded stone architrave to centre. Door has
brass rim lock inserted flush and exposed on external face.
Bay has opening to cellar to left, shallow plinth and band
course over ground floor. Stone drip course over ground floor;
timber modillion eaves cornice. 3 gabled dormers with 2-light
leaded casements. Stepped coping on left return gable with
trefoil stop and ball finial at apex; matched on end gable of
rear wing.
INTERIOR not inspected. Coursed limestone rubble wall
approximately 3m high with stone coping sets back slightly
from front wall of house and continues eastwards for
approximately 10m. C20 plank door in ashlar surround to right
approx 1m from house.
This house said to be possibly on the site of St Cecilia's
Chapel.
