GV II

Pair of attached houses, now shops. Early C18. Render to
No.32, brick to No.33, with limestone dressings, brick end and
ridge stacks and a pantile coped end-gable roof. Double-depth
plan. Early Georgian style. 3 storeys; 5-window range. Shallow
pilasters at the ends and centre to a timber modillion eaves
cornice and leaded gutter, coped party wall and gables. Two
C20 shop fronts to the ground floor. Matching first- and
second-floor windows have irregularly-spaced stone
bolection-moulded architraves: No.33 has 6/6-pane sashes, the
2 to the left set slightly apart; No.32 has double-width
8/8-pane sashes to left of 4/4-pane sashes. To the rear each
house has a projecting half-hipped wing, and central stair
well with a semicircular-arched 9/9-pane stair window.
INTERIOR: No.32, full-height ground-floor panelling and eared
fireplace; a good right-hand open-well stair with closed
string, barleysugar balusters, moulded rail and square newels,
with panelled wainscot; rear first-floor fireplace with a
bracketed cornice above, and dado. No.33 remodelled 1991.
