Terrace of 11 small town houses, including iron railings in
front of Nos 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 & 8. c1830s, for Josephus Ferris,
developer. Stucco on rubble walls, original scantle slate
(grouted) to Nos 5, 6, 8 & 10, otherwise replaced with
asbestos slate; wide eaves at the front; brick end stacks
except between Nos 4 & 5. Terrace of 11 double-depth-plan
houses each with entrance hall on the left and reception room
on the right, except for corner house No.3 which gains space
on a bowed corner and has 2 reception rooms flanking an
entrance hall. All have shallow courtyards fronting basements
and basement steps. 2 storeys over basements. All, except
No.3, have 2-window fronts and round-headed doorways with
rustication and widely-spaced eaves brackets. No.3 has
3-window front with bowed bay on the right. Both Nos 3 & 4
have terminal panelled pilasters. Nos 1, 3, 5 & 10 have
original 16-pane hornless sashes, otherwise later sashes.
INTERIORS not inspected but noted as having panelled doors and
shutters, carved cornices and dogleg staircases. SUBSIDIARY
FEATURES: in front are wide bridges spanning basement
courtyards. Simple iron railings, closer spaced at bottom, to
Nos 2-5; closer-spaced railings with fleur-de-lis finials to
Nos 7 & 8.
