Town house with later shops. Early C18. Slatehanging on
timber-frame with moulded cornice to pseudo jetty between
upper floors; steep hipped dry Delabole slate roof with
projecting eaves. Shallow-depth corner site plan. 3 storeys;
4-window range to 2nd floor ; 3 windows to 1st floor. Probably
original 12-pane hornless sashes with thick glazing bars
except for early C19 sixteen-pane sash to 1st-floor centre and
similar 12-pane sash to 1st-floor right. Left-hand return is
2-window range with early/mid C18 sashes on the left and blind
windows painted on at right. Ground floor has large C20 corner
shop front with splayed doorway to corner; smaller C20 shop
front of No.3 on right has splayed doorway on its left and
passage between leading to keyed elliptical-arched pilastered
doorway with panelled top-glazed door with Moorish-arch-headed
panels. Rear is slate hung and has tall early C19 stair window
with thin glazing bars. INTERIOR: Many C18 two-panel doors
some with fielded panels, some with scratch moulding, H L
hinges; C18 moulded cornice to 1st-floor left-hand corner
chamber; early C19 open-well open-string stair with mahogany
handrail scrolled over newel.
