The left hand guardsman appears to be a horseman - he has irons on his shoes, but not a shoe of moveable plates - , and leather thigh boots (or leggings) with the tops turned down for -present comfort- (to cool off). His right side has plate armour of a spauldron (shoulder piece) and full cover for his sword arm, including an elbow joint. (Photo Jul 2012).
