and attached forecourt walls

GV II

Unequal pair of town houses. Mid C19. Stucco on rubble front
to No.42 left, mostly render to 40; dry slate roofs with
projecting front eaves; hipped front end to 42, rendered brick
stack on right. Double-depth plan. No.40 two storeys, 42 three
storeys; overall 3-window range. No.42 has original 12-pane
hornless sashes; 40 with later horned copies; central pair of
round arched pilastered doorways with consoles and moulded
hood; original 6-panel doors with plain fanlights, early C20
open front glass-roofed porch with shaped fascia, chamfered
posts and shaped arched sides with latticed dado. INTERIOR not
inspected. Subsidiary features: ramped stucco brick wall on
right linked to hogs-back granite ashlar forecourt plinth
surmounted by C20 scrolled iron railings
