Pair of semi-detached houses, now subdivided into flats. Early
1880's, some alteration mid-late C20. Built by William
Willett. Yellow stock bricks, lavish use of moulded and
incised bricks for cornices, aprons, string courses and
lintels. Rendered basement, bitumen covered hipped slate
roofs. Corner site plan, principal elevation No.53
double-fronted facing onto The Drive, returned to Eaton Road
with No.51. Main elevation: 2 storeys plus attic over
basement, 1:3:1:3 bays, full-height canted bays, sashes
without glazing bars in segmental-headed openings, cills
carried on shaped brackets, hipped roof entrance bay
projecting into attic storey, gabled dormers with returns
rebuilt with glazed panels, round-arched entrance with ornate
capitals carried on slender shafts in arris, recessed panel
door with inserted lights, fanlight and sidelights renewed.
Left return: 2:1:1 bays, similar fenestration, full-height
canted bay right, hipped entrance bay projecting into attic
storey with applied pilasters, stairway windows in bay to left
cutting moulded string, entrance similar to that of No.53
approached by steep flight of steps. Forms part of group of
Willett estate houses in The Drive.
