Farmhouse. C17, altered early C18 and C19, some C20 fenestration. Part
timber-framed with brick infill, part brick, concrete tiled roofs, external
brick chimney to left side elevation and ridge stack to main part. Hall
and cross-wing type plan, hall range on east/west axis with cross-wing at
east end. Hall of 3 framed bays with 2 bay cross-wing. Two storey hall
with 2 bands at west gable end of 2 courses each; cross-wing is 2 storeys
and attic with cellar, dentilled eaves cornice, diaper work in gable,
and with bands between storeys, 3 course lower band and two 2 course upper
bands. Framing to first floor of hall range; 2 rows of square panels at
service end and close-set vertical studding to upper end. Front elevation:
irregular fenestration; hall range has 2 ground floor casements, 2 first
floor casements and a square light, and a lean-to scullery at upper end with
planked door and casement. Cross-wing part has major and minor gable; 2
ground floor casements with cambered heads, 3 first floor casements and a
narrow rectangular light and an attic light; below narrow light beneath
smaller gable is a doorway having mid-C19 6-panelled door with raised and
fielded panels, similar reveal panels and concrete lintel. Interior Roof
not inspected. Hall part has stop-chamfered cross-beamed ceiling to 2
lower bays.
