Farmhouse. Probably late C17 or early C18, remodelled late C18 with later additions and alterations. Timber-framed with red brick infill (some C20) and additions; slate roof. Original house of three framed bays with gabled staircase projection at right-angles to rear on left. Larger C18 gabled range at right-angles to rear on right incorporates part of an original timber-framed range. Two-storey catslide outshut in angle to rear. Two storeys and attic.
Framing: slightly irregular square and rectangular panels, six from cill to wall plate with long straight tension braces. Queen posts to left gable end and king strut with two raking struts from tie beam to right gable end. 1:1:1 windows, centre section slightly projecting and probably formerly gabled. Glazing-bar sashes, those to left and centre in moulded surrounds, those to right being horned C20 replacements. Central entrance; six-panel door (bottom panels are flush) with rectangular barred overlight and narrow flanking sashes. Prominent red brick stack to left of centre to original back wall and narrow integral end stack in front of ridge to night. Red brick stack in roof slope to C18 rear range.
INTERIOR: left and right ground-floor rooms have boxed-in ceiling beams and moulded plaster cornices. C19 dog-leg staircase in central hall has stick balusters to open string; oak winder staircase in rear gabled projection to left. Timber frame fragmentarily exposed throughout.
