L-shaped barn approx. 10m north-east of The Quaikin
II
Barn. Mid-to late C17 with later alterations. Weatherboarded timber
frame; corrugated-iron roof. L-plan. South range has two doorways to
left and square-headed opening on each floor to right gable end; slightly
shorter range at right-angles to north has doorways to far left and right
and hatch to gable end. INTERIOR. Framing visible to both ranges:
square panels, two from cill to wall-plate, with long straight braces to
weatherboarded bay partitions in south range and vertical posts to shorter
range. South range has single-purlin roof with collar- and tie-beam
end trusses, left with king strut; queen struts to first truss from left
and queen posts to second truss from left. Single-purlin roof in two
wide bays to shorter range has altered collar- and tie-beam trusses.
