An early C19 yellow brick house. 5 storeys. Originally it was 2 storeys
and attics, similar to No 48, a 2nd storey was added in the C20. 2 window
range double-hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars, in flush
cased frames, with segmental brick arched heads. A 6-panel door has
a wood doorcase with panelled reveals, reeded pilasters and a cornice.
The ground storey has a C19 or early C20 shop front. Roof slate.
Nos 20, 22, 22A, Nos 20 to 30 (even), Nos 34, 36, 36A, 38, Nos 40 to 60 (even)
form a group with Nos 13 to 29 (odd) & 29A, Parson's Almhouses & Nos 1 to
5 (odd) Downham Road.
Also Nos 20, 22, 22A, Nos 24 to 30 (even), 34, 36, 36A, 38, Nos 40 to 60 (even)
Nos 13 to 29 (odd) & 29A, Parson's Almshouses form a group with No 20 Church Lane
and the Parish Church of St Mary.
