Methodist Ministers' houses, now private houses. 1837 on deeds. Grey brick
in Flemish bond with Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays to central section
flanked by lower 2-storey, single-bay wings. Ionic doorcases to bays 2 and
4 of central section, that to left with glazed door beneath overlight, that
to right with half-glazed door beneath overlight with original decorative
glazing bars. Sashes with glazing bars and sills beneath cambered,
channelled wedge lintels with reeded keystones to central section. Side
wings have low ground-floor window openings, that to left blocked, that to
right with a 6-pane fixed window. First floor: round-arched windows with
channelled arches. and reeded keystones, that to left containing a round-
headed sash with glazing bars, that to right blocked. Timber cornice with
paired brackets, gable coping, round kneelers, end and ridge stacks to
central section, hipped roofs to side wings. Interior of No 45: open-string
staircase with column-on-vase balusters and carved tread ends. Round-headed
staircase window. Several cast-iron basket fireplaces. Interior of No 47
not inspected but said to be very similar. Neave D, Howden Explored, 1979.
