GV II

Gates, gate piers and lower wall-end piers. Probably c.1810. Sandstone blocks
with ashlar dressings; wrought iron gates. Castellated piers. 2 wide round
gate piers, about 3 metres high, with coarse rustication, have top bands and
raised battlemented coping. 4 moulded rectangular blank panels on each band.
Flanking piers about one metre high end boundary wall and have ogee-domed
coping; low wall with rusticated coping links north pier to Witton Bridge
(q.v.). Gates have spear heads on straight top rail; linked scrolls; twisted
spike-topped dog bars.
