GV II

House and shop with loft. Circa 1840. Roughly-squared coursed rubble; Welsh
slate roof with brick chimmeys. 2 storeys, 2 wide bays. Shop in right bay has
central 4-panel door and overlight flanked by windows with 3 rows of 3 large
panes, framed by Tuscan pilasters and entablature. 4-panel door under overlight
and flat stone lintel at right of first bay; plain sashes with flat stone lintels
in first bay on each floor. Flat stone lintel and projecting stone sill to
partly-glazed boarded loft door over shop. Low-pitched roof has end chimneys.
Cast iron low-relief street name-plate at centre sill-level on first floor;
wooden painted sign 'Witton-le-Wear Post Office' at right end over shop.
