Farmhouse and outbuilding attached on right hand side. Probably C18 reusing earlier
material. Granite ashlar front wall with moulded granite string and painted stone
rubble above. Stone rubble side walls and rear, partly slate hung and rendered. Rag
slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks.
Plan: Two room and cross or through passage plan, both rooms heated by end stacks.
Extended across rear probably in C19 to form a double depth plan. Circa late C18 or
early C19 shippon attached on lower right hand end. Ground slopes down to right with
house on left and outbuilding on right.
Exterior: Two storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front with fine quality granite ashlar
masonry below first floor. To the left of the entrance the large granite blocks
alternate with deep strechers and narrower headers. The masonry to the right of the
entrance is more uniform and the granite blocks are smaller in size. Dressed granite
and Polyphant stone voussoirs to the ground floor window openings with moulded
granite string above ground floor. Entrance in centre; the sides of the circa C19
open porch with roughly cut granite piers and slate hood have been infilled in the
C20 and the porch has a C20 door. Two C20 3-light windows in original openings with
three C20 windows on first floor.
The shippon which is attached on the lower right hand side is of two storeys. It has
a plank door near centre and is flanked by tall narrow ventilation slits with second
plank door to left.
Interior: The internal partitions on the ground floor of the farmhouse have been
altered in the the C19 and C20 with a stair inserted in the passage and a second
passage formed by the partitioning of the left hand room. An unheated central room
has been formed by the dividing and partitioning of the right hand room. The left
hand room has a moulded round granite arch with incised 'V' patterns across the face.
The arch has been reset into the recess adjoining the fireplace. The left hand room
has granite ashlar jambs to the fireplace. Plastered ceilings. Roof structure not
inspected.
