GV II
Farmhouse. Probably C17. Rendered and painted thick stone rubble and cob walls.
Slate roof with gable ends. Stone rubble end stacks with brick shaft on right.
Plan: The house is built down the slope with the ground rising to the left. Two
room and cross or through passage plan with entrance to left of centre. Probably the
larger hall kitchen on right and parlour on left, both rooms heated by end stacks.
On the lower right hand end is the probable remains of a third room which has been
reduced in height and is now a store. The weatherings on the right hand gable end of
the main range indicate that this third room had a lower roof than the main range.
There is a C18 or C19 outshut to rear of the left hand room and a C20 extension on
rear, near to centre, containing a bathroom.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front. C19 4-panel door with slate
hood to left of centre with 2-light casement to left and 3-light and 1-light windows
to right. There is a small drainhole in the front wall at the base, below the 3-
light ground floor window. Three 4-pane sashes on first floor. On the lower right
hand side the third room of the house has been reduced in height, partly built up in
concrete blocks and has a flat roof. On the right is a granite doorframe with
chamfered jambs and unmoulded lintel.
Interior: Not accessible.
